Create Your Professional Website with WordPress.com (Beginner)
We live in an age where having a digital presence on professional social media such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and/or ResearchGate is becoming the norm. For academics and other professionals, a well-designed site enhances one’s professional ethos offering a collective, public, discoverable space to share thoughts (blog) or publications, as well as other information—such as where, when and how to contact you. In this workshop, we will create a fully functioning personal/professional website.
Learning Goals
-
Provide a light, non-technical overview of Web design, outlining some of the many applications and options you have for creating your own website
-
Clarify the concept of information architecture and help you use it to design the structure of your website
-
Help you design and build your own website and/or blog in the popular, ubiquitous, and free Wordpress.com platform
No coding experience is required. However, to get the most out of this workshop, please bring an electronic or printed copy of your vitae, which we’ll use to populate the pages of your new website.
